The arrival of winter marks the start of the season cosy comforts for many of us – delicious hot foods, staying warm by the fire while storms swirl outside, knitted jumpers and scarves; the list goes on.
Sadly, it also marks the start of the most difficult season for Australians doing it tough. Over 1.2 million Aussies will struggle with poverty this winter, with regular, nutritious meals becoming the main struggle for those in need.
That’s why this winter we’re going to give back to those who need it most and we need your help to #heatupthestreet! One meal #shared = one meal delivered in three simple steps:
1: SNAP: Take a pic of your Sumo Salad meal
2: TAG: Post to social media with the tag #HeatUpTheStreet
3: THANKS: SumoSalad will deliver one meal to a person in need via Oz Harvest
OzHarvest is the first perishable food rescue organisation in Australia that collects quality excess food from more than 2,000 commercial outlets and delivers it, direct and free of charge, to more than 800 charities. They provide much-needed assistance to vulnerable men, women and children across Australia
Sumo’s CEO Luke says, “Our ongoing partnership with OzHarvest and annual in-store #HeatUpTheStreet initiative aims to make a real difference and allows us to give a little warmth and happiness to disadvantaged people living in Australia.”
So join us to help feed vulnerable Australians this winter by enjoying our delicious winter menu including soups, wraps, grain bowls and toasties and simply sharing on social: together we can all make a difference and #heatupthestreet!
